How the conversion works
Enter your hourly rate and normal hours, weeks, and workdays. A 50-week year already represents two unpaid weeks of leave or holidays.
Why does 50 weeks differ from 52 weeks?
A 50-week year accounts for two unpaid weeks (unpaid vacation, sick leave, or company closures). Adjust the weeks-per-year field if your employer provides paid time off across 52 weeks.
Salary Calculation Best Practices
- Enter your normal scheduled hours, not overtime, for an accurate baseline comparison.
- A 50-week year already accounts for two unpaid weeks; adjust it if your contract provides 52 paid weeks.
- These are gross figures — taxes, health insurance, and retirement deductions are excluded.
- Recalculate whenever your hourly wage, scheduled hours, or paid weeks change.
Why paid weeks matter
“How much is $25 an hour per year?” has no single universal answer. Annual gross pay changes with your normal hours and paid weeks, which is why Formulexa keeps those assumptions editable rather than enforcing a hidden 2,080-hour rule.
| Work Schedule | Annual Gross Pay |
|---|---|
| 40 hours × 52 paid weeks (Full PTO) | $52,000 |
| 40 hours × 50 paid weeks (2 unpaid weeks) | $50,000 |
| 37.5 hours × 52 paid weeks (Standard Office) | $48,750 |
To convert annual salary back to an hourly rate, select the annual-to-hourly mode and enter your actual schedule. All outputs represent gross pay and exclude taxes and overtime premiums.
